The Amazon Snag Fairies
It’s true, Amazon has snag fairies, mysterious and unfathomable, and pre-order for Offensive Behavior might be a little later than planned. Damn fairies.
Here’s how I know.
On Saturday I load Offensive Behavior to Amazon for pre-order.
Congratulations! Your book “Offensive Behavior” is available for pre-order in the Kindle Store. It is available* for customers to pre-order here. If you have resubmitted your book, your changes are now live.
Except it’s not.
There’s also this:
*Please note that the product description may take up to 24-48 hours to appear on the detail page, and links to the book’s physical counterpart may take up to 48 hours. For information on how the detail pages are linked, visit our Help Page. If you are resubmitting your content file or updating your book details, the changes should display live within the next 24-48 hours.
Fair enough. So I wait.
On Tuesday it’s still not shown up – we’re past the 48 hours and I’ve never had to wait this long for a title to go live.
I do this:
Subject: New book published for pre-order not showing up – over 48 hours
Hi there
I’ve got a new book which I loaded for pre-order Saturday my time – it’s now Tuesday my time, and the title shows on my dashboard link as not yet available. Is there a problem at my end, or do you think or it’s just snag fairies holding it up?
ASIN: B01BZB7NS4
The title is Offensive Behavior by Ainslie Paton
Thanks for looking in to this.
On Wednesday, Amazon responded with this:
I’m very sorry for any frustration this issue has caused.
We’ll need a little time to look into why this book isn’t available on Amazon. I’ve reached out to our Website Team to investigate this issue. I am fairly confident that this is in fact due to the snag fairies but will need further confirmation before making that call officially.
We’ll contact you with more information no later than the end of the day on Tuesday, March 1.
Thanks for your patience.
So this is how I know for sure Amazon has snag fairies.
I’m looking forward to them having their asses whipped.
So the people on the Amazom help desk have a sense of humour…that’s good…good luck in getting the book online. (Suzanne)
