Fear of Holes
Day job adventures: Episode #8760
Remember the client who wanted to rebrand and hired experts only to ignore them? Catch up here.
It got worse, or better, depending on your perspective. It certainly got weirder.
We finally landed on a company name that was legal, available and not offensive. It’s terminally boring, but that’s another story.
After the name comes the graphic treatment.
The design firm developed five different approaches including a logo, a type style and colour scheme.
The client chose an approach.
They chose a design that features an irregular pattern of dots in a circle.
They went from a healthcare company that was almost known by the acronym CLAP to one whose logo triggers a phobia called Trypophobia.
Trypophobia is the pathological fear of patterns of irregular holes.
The reaction to these holes is intense. It can make people shudder, feel itchy and physically sick. It can even trigger panic attacks.
Told you it got weirder.
Don’t watch if irregular patterns of holes makes you uncomfortable.
Certainly an interesting client…maybe not one who truly knows what they are doing but think they do so they won’t listen to expert advices. I have seen that when I use to work…actually it is quite common. (Suzanne)
Far too common.
