Detained in the Subconscious
Writing a book is a funny thing. Not in the, “a funny thing happened on they way to the …” wink, wink, nudge, nudge sense, but in the way that words, when strung together at any length drag meaning along with them.
And not necessarily the meaning you were thinking of when you strung them together on the page. There’s something both unintentionally organic and obviously manipulative about doing things with words.
Trouble is it’s sometimes hard to tell the difference.
That’s how I accidentally wrote two tropes inside Detained. I didn’t set out to write a billionaire book or a big girl theme, they just happened.
